[29th Melakartha Ragam]
It is same as the major scale note in Western music .i.e., C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C respectively (i.e., C Major scale). This ragam is called as the king of all other ragams in Carnatic music. Instead of shuddha madhyamam(Ma1)[F], if we replace this with prathi madhyamam (Ma2)[F#] the ragam will change to Mecha kalyani ragam (65 th Melakartha Ragam). Some few composition based on this ragams are shown below.
1. Carnatic kriti, "Seetha kalyana vibhogame " composed by Tyagaraja.
2. Carnatic kriti, "Bhakthi bheeksha meeyave " composed by Tyagaraja.
3. "Ambalapuzhai unni kannaodu ne " from the film Adwaitham.
4. "Oru venal puzhayil thelineril " from the film Pranayakalam.
"Nenjukul peithedum mamazhai" is a hit song from the film "Varanam Aayiram". The songs are composed by Harris Jayraj. This song is composed based on "Harikamboji ragam", which is 28 th melakartha ragam. The details of this ragam is already posted. The notes of this song is shown below, both in carnatic as well as in western. If any mistakes in notes, please comment me. Here I used simply sa, re, ga etc representation, for actual position just go through Harikamboji ragam (i already posted). Arohanam and avarohanam is shown below.
